What to look for in diamond
Diamond descriptions use carat, colour, clarity and cut. Check which descriptions are supported by a report supplied with the individual lot, and which laboratory issued it.
Natural and lab-grown describe different origins. Read the lot's stated nature and treatment information alongside its colour, cut, measurements, condition and any supplied report. An origin label does not establish a price or promise future value.
- Whether the lot is described as natural or lab-grown, and what supporting information is supplied.
- Cut alongside colour, clarity, measurements and condition, rather than relying on one description alone.
- Whether a lab report accompanies the stone, and which laboratory issued it.
