What to look for in ruby
Ruby is red corundum. Read the lot's stated identity and any supplied report, alongside its colour description and photographs.
Ruby is routinely heated, and some material on the market carries glass or lead-glass filling in its fractures, which is a far more consequential treatment than heat. Every treatment we know of is written on the lot. Where we do not know, we say that instead of guessing.
